Las Vegas Police Officer Killed Responding To Domestic Disturbance

Las Vegas Metro police officer Truong Thai, 49, was killed on Thursday morning after responding to a domestic disturbance on the East side of the valley. 

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo announced the death of Officer Thai on Thursday afternoon. He had been with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) since 1999.

Officer Thai was shot in the torso and transported to Sunrise Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

In a post on social media later Thursday morning, South Central Area Command said Officer Thai was a “dedicated, 23-year veteran” of the department.

Police said Thai held various roles with the department, including a firearms instructor. “He was passionate about training new officers.”

Fundraiser And Vigil For Office Thai

The Injured Police Officers Fund (IPOF) is hosting a fundraiser at the Nevada Coin Mart on Monday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help the Las Vegas police officer’s family following his death while on the job.

All proceeds will go towards the family of Officer Thai.

The LVMPD understands the community can be very generous and we are asking them to not provide donations to random sites due to fraudulent accounts being created.
