Leadership

Message From The President
by Sheriff Dennis M. Lemma, President
I have long believed in the mission of the Major County Sheriffs of America, and its unique ability to advocate for our shared causes, missions, and the constituents we, as elected Sheriffs, serve. Together, as leaders in our field, we come together to address the most pressing issues that we face in our communities, our states, and our nation.
From its inception, our organization has represented the very best individuals and organizations in the criminal justice field across our nation. Together, the MCSA membership represents the vast majority of citizens in the United States, now well over 100 million people. Regardless of what part of the nation we serve, we bring diverse experiences, knowledge, problems, and solutions to share with one another. I have always believed that the collective IQ of the group is always greater than the individual.
It is important to remember that as Sheriffs, we are responsible directly to the citizens we serve. Our involvement in the MCSA allows us to adopt best practices from across the nation and bring them back to our communities to enhance the safety, security, and quality of life those take an oath to serve and protect. However, it is essential that all member sheriffs are part of that process.
It is an honor to be selected and serve as the President of this honorable organization. I look forward to the ability to continue to build on the past successes while advancing our shared causes through advocacy and action. Together, we can create a positive impact on our profession and in our community, which is a shared cause that we can all invest in.
