Amber Joy Leist, a Los Angeles County detective, and 12 year veteran of LASD, was fatally struck by a vehicle in Los Angeles while assisting a person cross a street. In a press conference Sunday this evening, L.A. County Sheriff Alex Villanueva described Leist as an “outstanding detective who would lead by example.”
