Maricopa County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Brackman Fatally Struck On Duty

A Maricopa County sheriff’s lieutenant was struck and killed by a vehicle while working off-duty to control traffic Wednesday morning near 87th Street and McDowell Road in Scottsdale, according to sheriff’s officials.

Lt. Chad Brackman had serious injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died, according to a statement from Sgt. Monica Bretado, a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.

Brackman was a 22-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office.

“It is with great sadness that I share with you Lieutenant Chad Brackman S1296 was struck by a vehicle this morning while working traffic control off duty in the City of Scottsdale.Lt. Brackman, a 22-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, where he later passed away. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.”

Charity Car Wash for Lt. Brackman

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and the Memorial Fund will be hosting a charity carwash event on Friday, November 12 from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM benefiting the family of Lieutenant Chad Brackman.

All proceeds will go directly to the family of the Fallen Deputy.

Sad fact worth mentioning: Lt. Brackman’s death comes about a month after Sheriff’s Office Deputy Juan Ruiz died after being beaten unconscious by a man he was placing into a holding cell.

Our hearts go out to both families of Lt. Brackman and Deputy Ruiz.
