Update On Suspect In Clinkunbooker’s Murder

The man accused of killing Deputy Clinkunbooker was detained earlier this week and pleded not guilty by reason of insanity in a courtroom in Lancaster on Wednesday.

29-year old Kevin Cataneo Salazar faces one count of murder with special circumstances of lying in wait, firing from a car and personal use of a firearm, a .22-caliber revolver, according to the criminal complaint.

His mother, Marle Salazar, told the Los Angeles Times her son was diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic about five years ago and had attempted suicide in the past.

Funeral service information for Deputy Clinkunbooker has not been made public. And we encourage following the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s social media profiles to keep up with this story.
