Award-Winning Riverside County Sheriff’s Police K-9 Rudy Killed

In a tragic story out of Perris, California, a police dog named Rudy was shot and killed while leading Riverside County deputies to the hiding place of a wanted suspect, who unfortunately opened fire.

Despite being rushed to a veterinary hospital, Rudy’s injuries were too severe and he succumbed to his injuries. Rudy passed away officially on Friday, April 14, 2023.

The felon was later fatally shot by deputies when he refused to surrender.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement about Rudy on Facebook:

It is worth noting that before his passing, Rudy won first place for the Handler Protection category at the 31st Annual Las vegas Metropolitan Police Department K-9 Trials.
