Southern California Sheriff’s Deputy Killed, Community Mourns

Community members and fellow law enforcement colleagues are mourning the loss of Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Isaiah Cordero, 32, was was slain yesterday in the line of duty during a traffic stop. A witness called 911 and residents tried to help Cordero until paramedics arrived—he was pronounced dead at a hospital. A massive manhunt then began for the shooter, with an extensive criminal record, who was later shot down after opening fire on officers.

In a live press conference, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco gave a full briefing of the incident and the legacy Cordero leaves behind.

Cordero is survived by his girlfriend, an older step brother, and his mother and father.
