Candlelight Vigil Held For Slain JCSO Deputy Brandon Shirley

Deputy Sheriff Brandon Shirley of the Kentucky Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was shot and killed Thursday, August 5 2021, while working a secondary employment assignment at 2618 Rockford Lane in Shively, Kentucky when he was ambushed

He was in uniform and sitting in a vehicle at about 2:30 am when a subject approached him and opened fire. Deputy Shirley was transported to University Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The subject who shot him fled the scene and remains at large.

Deputy Shirley had served with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office for two years.

Funeral arrangements are set for Wednesday, August 11 at Noon at Southeast Christian Church on Blankenbaker Lane.

Visitation will take place the day before, Aug. 10 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home on Dixie Highway.

Friday afternoon, the FBI and ATF Louisville announced there is now an award of up to $50,000 for information that could lead to an arrest and conviction in Shirley's killing.
